Jason Anderson isn’t afraid.

jason anderson.pngThere’s something about a good rock record that makes me happy. Jason Anderson’s The Hopeful and Unafraid is a rock record. You might hear a little Born In the USA in his voice and songs but that’s okay, it’s a good influence to take.

I only listen to music created by dudes named Steve

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Real Emotional Trash.jpgYeah well maybe not. But! The new Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks record is something to write home about! And the last music related post I made on a specific band was for Magnetic Fields who of course is led by one Stephin Merritt.

Anyways…

The new Jicks record has been getting more than a few plays since its release and I’d say it’s just about the best thing released by the man in quite some time. It has more fun than I’ve heard from him in quite some time. And dare I say, it’s sounds like the Pavement I so fondly adore! More so than previous solo records anyways.

Nonesuch is good to us

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Distortion.jpgI’m starting to get restless. It’s been a few months since new and exciting music has been released with the exception of Radiohead at the beginning of december I suppose.

Well lucky for me there are a few things coming out this month that I am looking forward to.

First and foremost the 15th will see the release of the latest magnetic fields record “Distortion”. Well in my impatience I wandered over to the Nonesuch site and discovered that there is now a Nonesuch online store offering digital downloads along with the purchase of any physical release. Please Nonesuch, keep this up! But start offering albums on vinyl. I’ll be a happy fellow if I can purchase the LP and get free digital down loads…

Mixing with the Quiet Ones

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

I’m currently working with the Quiet Ones on their album that will be (I think) titled “Better Walk Than Ride Like That”. I write because I see that they have been posting up mixes of our progress on their myspace page here:

It’s good stuff and I think an amazing record is going to come out of all the work they’ve put in. They’re also a great act to see live if you ever get the chance, they play regularly around Seattle.
